Virtual dials, real trouble: Rolex on smartwatches

One of the great advantages of smartwatches over normal watches is their adaptability: Today a blue dial, one abroad with the simultaneous display of several time zones, a colorful one at the party, a simple one in the office. Especially for the smart watches with Android Wear, there are now countless designs that can be installed and selected later. Websites like FaceRepo have tuned in and offer hundreds of optics for download – simple, fashionable, elegant, modern or funky, depending on your taste.

Clear that there are also copies of expensive watches. A G Watch R for just under 260 euros with the dial of a tens of thousands euro ticker? Top! At least in theory. Because the manufacturers of the originals do not find it so funny when Rolex, Omega, Tissot & Co. are copied just like that – and swing with the lawyer's club.

According to information from TorrentFreak the manufacturers are now taking legal action against the virtual dials. Operators of download portals such as FaceRepo must therefore expect injunctive relief. According to information from Recode FaceRepo has already had to remove various designs, including those that have imitated Fossil, Swatch, Armani, Omega or Tissot watches.
