Unboxing of Thermopeanut

The rather flexible cardboard box, see cheap. On the front side is indicated the category in which the product fits: wireless thermometer. In the box is a gray cardboard box. Only the name of the product is indicated above with that of the model.

On the packaging, one sentence alone sums up the interest of Thermopeanut: place it anywhere and take the temperature on your phone. On the side edge are indicated the places advised to take the temperature: at work, at health home, in the fridge, or even on the move.

In the gray cardboard box, there is the user manual to read before installation as well as the main content for the proper functioning of Thermopeanut.

The back of the outer packaging presents all technical characteristics of the product, compatibility of its application as well as a summary of the advantages touted by the brand. By opening the box, we discover a folding cardboard support. It contains a recess to accommodate the Thermopeanut. On the back of this support, there is a small bag called “gift bag”, in which the product accessories appear.

There are four accessories in this bag: one piece of adhesive pad, a support to fix it, and a ring to attach the end of the plastic clip.

Thermopeanut design and ergonomics

The thermometer has a very simple aesthetic, which follows a blue color scheme on the top, white on the bottom. Rather light, it has the advantage of being easily transported, with the help of its many accessories, each as useful as the other on paper.

If you are the curious type, thanks to its small size, you can also measure the temperature of your refrigerator. Size is not only an advantage, but can also be a disadvantage. Indeed, if you want to measure the temperature of a large space, you can easily lose it inside.

It can slide easily in more or less classic places. To give you an idea, we have placed the thermometer in the air conditioning vent.

Application of Thermopeanut

As with Fii Smart, Thermopeanut works through an application: Sen.se Peanut. It is compatible with phones on Android and Ios. After installation, a health home page offers the user either to buy the product (for those who have taken the app independently) either start the tutorial.

After creating an account, the tutorial will guide the user through the connection pairing. Before continuing with the tutorial, the application informs us on how to connect to the device. You will then have to activate your Bluetooth and the geolocation data, so that Sen.se Peanut can access the thermometer position.

After this step, the user must deactivate the battery optimization parameters, to run Sen.se Peanut in the background. The goal is to allow the application to permanently receive information from the thermometer.

The application then explains to the consumer how to turn on the Thermopeanut. Then, to add the thermometer and pair it, just bring it closer to the phone. Sen.se Peanut will automatically detect if one of its products is nearby.

An update starts to lead to the proper functioning of the device. During this loading time, many tips are indicated to make the use of the product easier.

After the update is installed, a tutorial explains to the consumer where it can be used : in a house or in the office for example.

It is possible to name your product and indicate its color, through the mobile application. Throughout the initialization process, several tips are given to the user to facilitate his use of the application.

Use of Thermopeanut

The thermometer in its form has no functionality in itself, there is no button directly on the device, you can just press it to turn it on. All the use is done through the application.

The user can choose a temperature scale, depending on where he is. He can choose a temperature from 15 to 59 degrees. This scale is configurable from the customization options of the application. You can activate an alert if the temperatures detected by the thermometer are too low or too high.

You will then access the app’s temperature gauge. The thermometer can detect the maximum and minimum temperature and thus calculate an average. It can be represented in the form of a histogram thanks to reports in several formats: daily, monthly, annual. By pressing one of the bars on the graph, you can consult the average temperature measured that day. You can also calculate it in real time by pressing the icon at the bottom right of the screen.

By pressing the circle indicating the measurements in real time, you will have access to the speed of the Wi-Fi connection as well as the battery gauge of the product. By swiping the interface to the left, you will have access to the list of smart health connected Thermopeanuts. It is therefore possible to access it without restarting the installation of the application. When swiping to the right, the interface is missing. Only the add or buy function appears.

As far as the statements themselves are concerned, to say the least. They can oscillate between 21 and 27 degrees, which can be perplexing. However, the heating was not changed during the day, so we have no answers about this problem.

Thermopeanut facing the competition

In the world of smart health connected objects, a plethora of thermometers has been out for several years now. While some are intended for medical use, others are specialized in health home automation use such as Thermopeanut. How does it fare against the competition?

In this area, we can mention Tempi, measuring both the temperature of the house and its humidity. Information is sent to your phone via Bluetooth. It can measure temperatures from -30 degrees to 85 degrees. Sold around 26 euros, it promises more features. With the application, it is for example possible to have real-time body temperature during physical activity. The thermometer can also measure all outdoor spaces, unlike the Thermopeanut.

As a serious competitor, we can also cite the Xiaomi Smart Temperature. For the modest sum of 13 euros, this thermometer attaches to all surfaces. With its 15 grams it is easily transportable. However, it has an application that has the same faults as the Fii Smart Thermometer: the choice of languages. Indeed, it is only available in English or Chinese. Which could explain its low price.

If you want a product with even more functionality, you can turn to the Hector. It’s a smart health connected weather station, which explains its relatively higher price than the aforementioned devices. In addition to temperature, it can predict weather conditions and give atmospheric pressure. Having tested it ourselves, we can testify to its great precision.
