Unboxing by Prynt

With Prynt, there is not only one box to open, but three exactly. The first contains the Prynt itself with its charger, the second box contains theadapter to add for use with your phone model and in the last one is the photo paper refills.
When we open the first box, it contains the device and on the bottom, we find the charger and its USB cable and mini USB. There is no instructions or instructions, everything is available on the brand's website or through the Prynt app. In the second box is theadapter to attach to the device itself so that you can install your smartphone and take pictures of your videos and a set of 10 sheets of self-adhesive photo paper, size 3.1 cm by 7.6 cm. In the third box is a pack of 50 other sheets of the same type on which are embedded tiny changing thermo crystals, which allows Prynt to be used without an ink cartridge.

Overall, the packaging of the Prynt device is very basic, many indications are added all around the box, which explains the absence of a paper user manual, everything is done through the application. When you receive your Prynt, just open a cardboard cover to see the polaroid appear in its box.
Design and ergonomics
What’s really unfortunate about the Prynt device is its slightly plastic side who serves him and gives him a toy look or a little “cheap” smart health smart health connected object. Indeed, for an object with such added value and exclusivity, we would expect a little more luxury in the construction material used. However, the device which is not not very beautiful in black, is much more convincing with its new pop and flashy colors now available for sale on the product site.

Prynt takes the codes of a conventional camera with a trigger button on the top of the device. Thus, the user will not be destabilized while using it. But the real advantage of the design of the Prynt device is its size. Because if Prynt takes up the polaroid principle, she forgot her “elephant” side for ability to fit it into any pocket ! At the less successful sides of the aircraft, the Prynt does not has no On / Off button on its case, which makes the difficult battery management, because you can't see when the device is off or on.

Application associated with Prynt
This application simply wears the name of the device itself: Prynt. It is compatible with devices Android from the Samsung Galaxy range, the S5 exactly. This app is also available for iPhones 5, 5s, 6, 6s, 6 Plus and 6s Plus.

She is not not clear from the start, and newbies may find it a bit difficult to understand how it works the first time. It's a shame, since as we said earlier, no paper instructions are included in the packaging. However, once you understand, it becomes very easy to use. Just take a photo and video, start printing, and the app automatically generates a QR code, the same type you can scan with your smartphone. The video is taken automatically when you press the shutter button. Immediately sent to the Cloud, it makes it possible to instant sharing of highlights that you wanted to capture. It also offers elements similar to those used by social networks based on the exchange of photographs, such as for example filters or the ability to add text over your shot.
use
Getting started for Prynt's very first time is also a bit tedious. However, once it is done, there is no need to repeat all these manipulations! First, you have to hang the adapter on the device. Pay attention to the clip in the right direction without forcing, so as not to damage the plastic elements. Then you have to reload the Prynt in photo sticker paper squares, for that you have to open the small hatch located on the bottom of the device. The self-adhesive photo paper strips are insert in a specific direction: the smooth and shiny side at the bottom. It should be noted that in each pack of self-adhesive photo paper, there is a green square, this allows you to “clean” the Prynt and therefore must be used fairly regularly. To start cleaning with green paper, just start printing with your smartphone.
Once all these elements of the Prynt have been put in place, place your phone the right way : by pressing the big button on the left side of the device, the adapter is raised and holds the smartphone securely of the user. Then just take a photo and a video. The Prynt will print your photo on sticker photo paper and in this picture will be a QR code (a little more sophisticated in this version) that your smartphone can read. So at each time you shoot this image, your smartphone will fully “read” the photo to get out the corresponding QR code and the associated video (which will have been taken at the time of the photograph) will fire automatically. This is where we talk about augmented reality!
Even if the use of Prynt remains rather restricted, it is compatible with fairly popular versions smartphones, which increases its field of influence in the market. When you start using the object, we may seem a little skeptical about some obscure sides on paper. However, we fall back very quickly to childhood and we have a lot of fun creating their own virtual reality. All the editorial staff has been conquered by its principle and with each photo the amazement begins again !
Prynt against the competition
Unfortunately, Prynt is no longer the only to offer a device that takes up the principle of polaroid and augmented reality at the same time. It is therefore no longer the only one in the very precise field of augmented reality. Its main competitor, LifePrint, offers an object in every way similar to the Prynt, but it is much more design. It is smart health connected (no need to connect your smartphone to the device) and also cheaper: count around 119 euros to see her. This other version of the augmented reality polaroid will be available from september 2016.
Several companies are trying to bring in their smart health connected objects in the era of augmented reality, like the little Koguma bear money box which allowed children to see the animated ice floe while filming the bear money box. This technology has also entered the art world for some time. Prynt is therefore worried and better seek to improve his weaknesses if he wishes to remain in the race !
Conclusion
Prynt has truly conquered our entire team, because it proposes to transform intangible media into a very playful material object. It’s because Prynt goes beyond the simple polaroid that it looks irresistibly vintage and awfully modern! Even if it allows the user to do only one action, it is spectacular enough to amuse young and old and find a loyal audience. Prynt, which is the only one on the market to offer such a smart health connected device, will benefit from this exclusivity for a little while and why not offer in some time improved versions, more solid and pretty than current boxes.
Overview
Design and Ergonomics : A design a little too plasticized, however the size is practical for transport.Application : A fairly simple application but not always intuitive, especially for a first use.Features : Few features certainly, but so fun that we love it!use : It is not necessarily easy to use for the first time, but once the "principle" is understood, it is very easy.Quality / Price ratio : A good quality / price ratio for an exceptional and unique tool but expensive if you think that fact that the smartphone is not included!
