Report: 2.8 million Apple Watch sold

As Slice Intelligence analysts told Reuters, Apple has sold 2.79 copies of its watch so far. Most customers resorted to the cheapest version of the wearable, the Apple Watch Sport, which is available in Germany from 399 euros. Slice Intelligence's forecast is based on the recording of 2 million online orders in the USA – 20,000 of which were a smartwatch from Cupertino.

The individually available bracelets for the gadget are particularly lucrative for Apple. In addition to the watch, 17 percent of the buyers also bought an exchange band, mostly the black sports bracelet. The 38-millimeter version is said to cost just $ 2.05 to manufacture, and is selling for $ 49. In Germany it costs 59 euros.

In addition to the "cheap" sports bracelet, the most popular was the $ 149 (in Germany 169 euros) Milanese bracelet made of woven stainless steel braid. In the future, there will also be bracelets from third-party suppliers for the Apple Watch, which may then sometimes be a little cheaper.

According to current rumors, Apple is already working diligently on the successor to the first Watch. If the Techblog 9to5Mac is right, the company will install a camera in the "Watch 2". In the future, owners of an iWatch should also be able to make face-time calls on the gadget. A “new and more dynamic wireless chipset”, on the other hand, is intended to give the wearable device more independence in operation without a smart health connected iPhone.
