Razer makes masks to deal with the epidemic
To help doctors fight the coronavirus, Razer promises to donate surgical masks, which are becoming increasingly rare.
As the Covid-19 spreads exponentially, medical workers are running out of essential work essentials. Faced with this, large companies and simple volunteers try to help as much as they can. Not to be outdone, Razer is one of those involved in the effort.
Razer promises a million masks to fight coronavirus
On Facebook, Min-Laing Tan, the CEO of the firm, announces that it wants to transform some of their production units into factories for surgical masks. The goal: at least one million masks that will be distributed free of charge worldwide.
The first batches produced will be sent to the Singapore authorities where one of the company's headquarters is located. For the rest of the world, Razer will deal directly with governments and organizations to find out the priorities.
Long-term commitment
Also in his publication on Facebook, Min-Laing Tan points out that this emergency conversion is just the first step. The firm promises to invest more time, resources and talent in an ongoing fight against the Covid-19.
In fact, Razer is not the first multinational to show altruism during this coronavirus crisis. Earlier this month, Sharp also announced plans to transform a factory manufacturing TV screens for making masks.
For its part, Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of Tesla has promised to make respirators in its factories in case of stock shortage. An increasingly likely situation given the progression of the pandemic. US officials have already started talks with other automakers. They hope to convince them to make missing respirators and other medical devices.
