price, availability and full review. smart health innovation

Everyone knows Nest cameras or Myfox security systems, but do you know New Deal cameras? It is probably not, because this French brand is still not very widespread on the market. However, even if these cameras have fewer means than their already well-established competitors, they have a lot of ambition and are among the most affordable. We have tested some for you in order to overcome this cultural gap.Mark : New deal

Unboxing of New Deal smart health connected cameras

Little to say on the packaging of New Deal surveillance cameras, except maybe one word: compact. Here, the aesthetics of the presentation goes into the background and we focus on simplicity, thanks to simple images that clearly state the purpose and use of the product. In this way, New Deal saves a lot of space and can present its material in relatively small boxes.

Logical consequence, the equipment is stored in a tote, but it’s not particularly difficult to navigate. Each cable or piece of equipment is stored in a separate bag depending on its purpose, and in the case of the opening sensors (supplied with the camera), they are even stored in their own box, accompanied by stickers intended to attach them at the edges of your door or window.

Small inventory: apart from the camera and instructions for use (in French, English and Spanish, which explain in detail the different methods of connecting the camera to the mobile application), the boxes include power and Ethernet cables, the opening sensors and an small remote control. In terms of motion detectors, they are already integrated into the camera.

In short, the whole thing may not be very sexy, but it does its job.

Design and ergonomics

Simple and efficient, that could sum up the design of the New Deal cameras. We tested three: security cameras HD Cam Protect (models NDS-100W and NDS-PT100W) and the HD Cam Live. None bother with details, the LEDs are pretty clear and, even if they are not all discreet, their design allows them to fit into any decoration (except maybe the PT1000W, a little more massive).

The big advantage of 100W and HD Live is that they can also place on any surface. On a desk, on the wall, in a corner, and why not on the ceiling? Their ability to screw onto any surface and their swivel head allows them to monitoring each desired area.

We have two regrets: first, no battery, which forces the camera to remain smart health connected to the mains and makes it ineffective in the event of a power failure. Finally, lack of finish on accessories like the remote control, which is really low-cost. It's a shame, but we console ourselves by looking at its size: barely five centimeters long, it is easily transportable and you can easily imagine it as a keychain.

New Deal app

Let's go to the application! As for the rest, this one remains simple and, after a quick registration, offers four features: "Material List", which presents all the cameras smart health connected to the app and allows you to connect to it with one click; the keyboard ; Tools, which is used in particular to set up new cameras and view surveillance photos; and the System settings where you can find various parameters relating to the account, the ringtone, updates or system notifications.

Our main regret at the application level is thatlack of a clean visual identity, which would have made browsing a little more pleasant, but it is better to have an application with a neutral aesthetic than ineffective. On this side, no major problem since you will spend most of your time on the same page: the list of equipment. This is where you will add your new cameras (by pressing the little + then entering the device identifiers) and manage them. Indeed, justpress one of your cameras to view either the camera viewpoint or their settings. These are fairly complete: date and time, media settings (where you decide the video format and volume), security settings (where you set your passwords), network settings (which will allow you to change the connection of the camera to Wi-Fi, which we advise you to do in order to facilitate your future connections), alarm settings (to determine which sensors are active and which media to activate in the event of an intrusion, we will talk about this later), recording parameters (on video recording methods), protection zone (where we encode and configure the remote control and its sensors according to their location in the house), storage information (relating to your storage media, such as an SD card) as well as updating devices. It's not always easy to find your way around, but you end up finding your way around.

Namely, New Deal has informed us thata new version of the application was currently under development. What to make up for this lack.

Getting started with New Deal cameras

Once out of the box and smart health connected to the Internet using the Ethernet cable provided, all you have to do is download the application and set up your New Deal camera.

The apparatus, this is often the difficult step. New Deal is doing pretty well thanks to a system based on QR code. To summarize, once in the Tool tab of the application, you just need to enter the name and password of your Wi-Fi to generate a unique QR Code. Present it to your camera and the two devices will connect automatically. Personally, we were not dazzled by this technique, But New Deal provides Ethernet cable to manually connect your camera to the network the first time you connect. A point to wear to their credit.

The connection now established, it is possible to check the camera's field of vision and, for the PT100W, to move it with a few finger movements. Several buttons are present : those determining the video quality (LD, SD or HD), one allowing mute (since the camera has a microphone), another from take photos, the third of to hang up and the last of speak directly through the built-in speakers. All these functionalities are represented by simple images allowing a quick understanding.

But that's not all, since the New Deal cameras present themselves as security tools. So once you've added all of your cameras to your app, just put your finger on it and select the settings for pair them with your supplied remote control or opening sensors. The encoding is done automatically, simply separate the two sensors or press a button on the remote control to connect the device to the camera.

Note that once these parameters are set, it will no longer be necessary to return to the application to modify them, because the supplied remote control allows some interaction with cameras. Since the symbols are not very clear (this is the price to pay for a really small remote control), here is their use: Activate protection, cancel protection, SOS (which activates the local alarm, the video and sends an email) and Privacy masking, which stops the images and the video.

The main black spot is the manual which is relatively not very complete for our taste. If this clearly explains the different ways of connecting and even installing the cameras (in the case of the 100W and the Live Cam, which can be fixed to the wall), it a little overview of encoding techniques for sensors and the remote control. Fortunately, a step-by-step installation guide is available on the Internet and make up for this lack.

Rest, the cameras do their job well, but make sure you have a good Wi-Fi connection. The editorial office suffers from some problems and this sometimes forced us to leave the camera wired. You can decide which sensors (movement, opening) assets and desired reactions in case of intrusion (activate the siren, receive a notification or an email…) in the alarm settings (available by clicking on the camera in question). Moreover, it is possible at any time to consult what the camera is recording and to speak orally through it.

Against competition

New deal does not have the reputation of other manufacturers smart health connected cameras (like MyFox or Nest, to name a few) and you can see that inlack of originality of the application. Clearly, New Deal focuses less on detail and the superfluous than on creating a complete and affordable product. Because their main advantage is that: value for money. Available from only € 69 (while the competition revolves around € 200), they are also equipped with opening sensors, motion detectors and integrated sirens, which makes them a security pack to keep the eye.

Conclusion

These are typically low cost products: little originality in design or application, but the cameras do their job well and above all offer complete services and accessories at low cost, since the most expensive model (the 100W, at € 149) is already cheaper than the average competitor price (which easily rises to more than € 200 if one integrates the opening sensors). To know that several models coexist, with different prices and functionalities to meet all budgets. As you can add other sensors later, it is any installation that is likely to find its account.

For information, here are the three models in question:

HD Cam Protect (model 100W) is a security camera with an infrared and aperture sensor. It can be attached to any surface and can be positioned as you wish thanks to its swivel head. It is available at 149 € (view at 135 € at Cdiscount).

HD Cam Protect (model PT100W) brings together the particularities of his younger sister and doubles as a remote control head. Ideal for monitoring what happens at health home when you are away, for the sum of € 139 (€ 125 at Cdiscount and Amazon).

HD Cam Live is a Wi-Fi camera equipped with a motion detector and a built-in siren. Above all, it has the advantage of being available at € 69.

The advantages of New Deal cameras

> Very good value for money> Includes opening sensors (door or window) as well as motion detectors.> Quick fitting by QR code

The Cons of New Deal Cameras

> Incomplete instructions (possibility to find a more detailed installation guide online)> Not very sexy application

Design & Finishing / Ergonomics

Use / handling

Overview

Design & Finishing / Ergonomics : No complaints about the design, except for certain models which are aesthetically unobtrusive.Application : A slightly simplistic interface which does not make navigation super fun, but it has the merit of being complete.Features : With its integrated opening and movement sensors and its easy fitting, New Deal should not be ashamed of its functionalities, which make it a particularly attractive security camera model.Use / Getting started : Not always easy to locate in the functionalities and we deplore an incomplete user manual. However, you end up finding your way around and it is not difficult to pair your camera with its aperture sensor or remote control.Value for money : The strong point of these security cameras. Less than € 200 for smart health connected cameras with aperture and movement sensors, this is an opportunity not to be missed.
