Even if the public authorities welcomed on April 13 the milestone of the 15 million people vaccinated against Covid-19 with at least one dose, the vaccination campaign could still accelerate thanks to several citizen initiatives.

On March 30, Dr Antoine Roux, pulmonologist at the Foch hospital (Suresnes, Hauts-de-Seine), Martin Daniel and Mathieu Ripert, both web developers and data scientists launched their CovidListe platform in order to “allow all available vaccine doses to be used, primarily by priority audiences identified as part of the government’s vaccine strategy”.

“Out of necessity, I also take care of the Covid-19 at the hospital. With Martin Daniel, we regularly discuss the contributions of technology to health. Recently, we discussed these lost doses of vaccine. It is estimated that 10 Doses out of 100 are struggling to find a recipient and this requires a lot of energy from the vaccinators. We had to find a solution to make their work easier and prevent these doses from being thrown away, “Dr Roux told TICsanté on April 13.

“We had the idea of ​​making very simple lists of volunteers: last name, first name, date of birth, email, address to identify the geographical position, telephone number to be contacted.”

Concretely, when a vaccination center or vaccinator health professional, registered on CovidListe, notices that he will have additional doses of vaccine, he can consult the lists of volunteers located nearby, according to the age group he defines itself and create “a campaign” to contact them.

“An email and SMS are sent to the corresponding registered volunteers. They have a limited time to be able to confirm their interest and availability. The campaign ends when all the doses have been taken,” explains the platform on its site.

The vaccination center or the vaccination professional receives the list of volunteers, who will go to the address indicated to receive their injection at the time of the appointment.

More than a hundred volunteers, IT developers, communicators, specialists in law, data management and processing joined the CovidListe adventure on April 1. “Technologically, they have done an enormous job for the site to work and be secure,” said Antoine Roux.

The open source platform has chosen to host its data in France via the company Scalingo and these are deleted “the day after the connection with the partner who performs the vaccination”.

“There were 700,000 registered in 14 days and more than 700 vaccinations were carried out in 7 days. We have a ‘big’ hundred centers registered all over France, pharmacists, doctors and a vaccinodrome”, detailed Dr. Ginger.

The city of Anglet (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) has also joined CovidListe “to avoid wasting doses” at health home. “The territorial network is important in our approach, we are very proud of this partnership”, commented the co-founder of the platform.

The ViteMaDose and Medicamentum initiatives

On April 6, the Medicamentum platform, created by the start-up Beyowi, launched a tool similar to CovidListe. Called “Covid Anti-Gaspi”, this solution also intends to fight against the waste of vaccine doses.

Like CovidListe, it allows healthcare professionals and individuals to register on a waiting list in order to receive a notification when a dose, ready to be injected, is available nearby.

“The approach is in keeping with the allocation and prioritization rules decided by the health authorities by organizing a local appeal so as not to waste ready-to-use doses. It is not a project. Skip-the-line allowing some non-priority people to be vaccinated before others, but with an anti-waste citizen approach, “warns the platform in a press release issued on April 8.

Launched at the end of March, ViteMaDose is a different tool. Developed by CovidTracker, it enables the detection of vaccination appointments against Covid-19.

The platform, free, was also designed in open source. She offers appointments available in your department to get vaccinated, subject to eligibility.

Vaccination slots are identified from the services of Doctolib, Keldoc, Maiia, Ordoclic, MaPharma and the reservation of a vaccine injection slot in a vaccination center is made via the pages of these appointment booking platforms. -you.
