Pebble Smartwatch Gets Android Wear Support ABSMARTHEALTH
With version 2.3 of the Android app for the smartwatches, Pebble and Pebble Steel will also be able to communicate with applications that are compatible with Google's wearable OS Android Wear. This can already be tried out as a beta version.
Despite the large number of smartwatches with Android Wear and Samsung's Tizen Wearable Armada, the Pebble is still very popular. This is due, among other things, to their runtime of up to 7 days, but also a very large app offering and a large community around the device that started as a very successful Kickstarter project. What the company behind the E-Ink-Watch has just announced is now making the gadget a whole lot more interesting.
As the developers report in their blog, the Pebble Android app will in future use the functions that applications with Android Wear support offer. What you can do with Android Wear should also work with the Pebble Smartwatch in the future ("If you can do it with Android Wear, you can do it with Pebble"). The pebble makers demonstrate this in two short videos a smiley reply to a Hangouts message and a money transfer by Moolah.
The developers have just released the current beta version of the Pebble Android app, including Android Wear support. To try them out, you have to go to the Pebble beta channel register as a tester. Additional features of the beta in version 2.3.0 include support for Android devices from OS version 4.0 (previously from 4.3), automatic updates of apps and watch faces and the usual bug fixes and stability improvements.
