Momit Cool Unboxing

The packaging of Momit Cool is very good. Built in reinforced cardboard, it is solid and pleasant in the hand. Its cool gray style works well with the image that the product gives itself. The whole box bears the futuristic print of lines that intersect in geometric shapes that can be found on the device. The lid opens by sliding, but it fits very well on the box.

Once the cover is removed, we discover a good surprise. The box carries on its outside sides a quick instruction manual to start the Momit Cool. Some steps are missing, but we can welcome the effort to simplify the explanation as much as possible, which is still useful.

In the box, we find the product itself, the user guide, the gateway that connects to your modem or router, as well as the various cables necessary to do so. The Momit is completely wireless. It works with three AA-LR6 batteries supplied.

The manual provides a more detailed installation guide than the one in the box. With him, no mistake possible. Be careful, however, to clearly differentiate the product itself and its gateway, especially when scanning the flashcodes of the two devices.

Momit Cool design and ergonomics

The thermostat offers a discreet but convincing design. Its immaculate white color, its very soft angles and its reduced size allow it to blend into almost any interior. As said above, it carries a diagram of crossed lines reminiscent of a printed circuit which gives it a futuristic look that is both discreet and efficient. He will be able to be forgotten wherever you put it in your health home.

The product is light and handy, which makes it easy to set up. Indeed, it is supposed to be attached directly to your air conditioner thanks to the adhesive on the back of the device. Problem: although the Momit sticks well on the spot, it will find itself on the ground after a few tens of minutes. You might as well have it near your air conditioner, because the adhesive is not reliable.

Once fully configured, a blue light will confirm that your Momit is functional. Thus, it remains in agreement with its cold design which recalls its function. Pretty and useful.

Application of Momit Cool

The thermostat application offers many very useful features. Unfortunately, they are not not all already available. First, once your device is set up, you can control your air conditioner remotely with the app.

She will tell you about the current room temperature, the temperature you want to reach with the action of the air conditioner, and the outside temperature. These same data are also available for the humidity rate. This information is then saved by the application which will offer you a graph of the evolution of statistics of your interior.

There is also a weather service which informs you about sunshine, temperature and probability of rain from where you are. Because yes, the application works with the geolocation.

The real interest of Momit Cool is to be able to manage its budget better. Indeed, it is certainly supposed to allow you to turn on or off your air conditioner remotely to allow you full control, but also to set up a schedule for it to self-manage and thus avoid overconsumption of 'energy. It is even supposed to be able to learn your habits and then offer you the most suitable settings for your daily life.

A major problem arises, however: the budget function is not yet available … No information on a release date for THE function that the product highlights. It’s disappointing to say the least, because the impression that the product was taken out without being finished.

Using the Momit Cool

The budget function is simply not available, the functionality of the Momit Cool is therefore drastically reduced. It is supposed to be possible to enter information relating to your energy bills, so that the appliance adapts and makes projections for each month.

The thermostat could even warn you if the budget is exceeded ; budget that you can change if you want to save money or allocate a little more money to your interior comfort.

However, you can currently only manage your air conditioner, as you would with the remote control of the latter. However, it can be done remotely, which can be very useful to turn it off if you forgot to do so, or to turn it on in advance to prepare a comfortable temperature before returning health home or arriving at work.

Another disappointment, you can only link one air conditioner to your Momit. It is therefore impossible to manage the temperature of several rooms simultaneously without having to buy several thermostats.

The Momit Cool facing the competition

With its budget function, the Momit Cool offers extremely interesting services for its reasonable price given the market for smart health connected thermostats. As an example, the Netatmo, which offers similar functions, costs € 20 more. The Qivivo also costs € 20 more, but requires a subscription of € 2.99 per month to access all of its features.

The Momit is in the range of the most accessible thermostats, the lower range does not offer models grouping all the functionalities making the product a real smart health connected thermostat. If you want to invest more in the temperature management of your interior, you can turn to the Ecobee or the Honeywell Lyric, which are able to notice your presence or absence and change its parameters accordingly. The fact remains that currently, the main interest of Momit Cool (and moreover, its main marketing argument) is not accessible, which makes its utility very reduced. If you want to buy this smart health connected thermostat, you'd better wait a bit, or head for a model that has already proven itself. We will, of course, update this Review once the budget function is activated.
