LG Watch Urbane Luxe: Smartwatch for $ 1000

With the Watch Urbane Luxe, LG is launching a premium version of its Watch Urbane on the market. The gold-plated smartwatch with a leather strap is said to cost around $ 1,000.

As the company LG announced in the press release, its luxury smartwatch Watch Urbane Luxe brings "shine to the world of wearables". The shine comes primarily from the 23-carat gold plating of the wrist gadget. LG points out that 23-carat gold is harder than 24-carat gold, which is often used for goldsmith work – it is also heavier than 18-carat gold, as is often used in luxury watches.

According to the company, "30 experienced leather specialists at the highest level of craftsmanship" are responsible for the production of the crocodile leather bracelet. The high-priced wearable device is delivered in a box covered with piano lacquer. The Watch Urbane Luxe is limited to 500 pieces and should be available from the end of October for around $ 1000 exclusively from the US retailer Reeds, with whom LG is launching the smartwatch.

In terms of hardware, the luxury version does not differ from the usual Watch Urbane (our hands-on). The round 1.3-inch display protected by Gorilla Glass 3 has a resolution of 320 × 320 pixels. LG uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip clocked at 1.2 GHz as the processor. The internal memory is 4 GB, the RAM 512 MB. A 410 mAh battery sits in the housing, which is protected against dust and brief immersion according to IP67 certification.
