Lenovo Vibe Band VB10: Smartwatch with e-ink display

With the Vibe Band VB10, Lenovo is launching a smartwatch that, thanks to e-ink technology, can do without an outlet for up to 7 days. Apart from that, it is protected against water, compatible with Android and iOS devices and a personal fitness coach.

The Vibe Band VB10 has a 1.43-inch e-ink display with a resolution of 296 × 128 pixels. The gadget is operated using hardware buttons on the edge of the housing. Thanks to the energy-saving screen technology, Lenovo promises a runtime of up to 7 days. The VB10 is charged via a microUSB connection. The wearable device connects via Bluetooth 4.0 to either iOS or Android devices (from version 4.3).

The IPx7-certified water-protected gadget (waterproof up to 30 minutes at a depth of one meter) brings smartwatch-typical notifications from the cell phone to the wrist. The VB10 shows, among other things, incoming calls, SMS and social network notifications. On the fitness side, the wearable measures steps, calories and sleep behavior of the user. The 30 gram smartband has the dimensions 60 × 23.8 × 9.5 millimeters.

As of April 2015, the Vibe Band VB10 will be available in black and silver for $ 89. So far, the company has not given any information about the availability of the smartwatch in Germany.
