Jabra Motion Office headset Review smart health innovation

While writing ABsmarthealth.net we had the pleasure of testing Jabra's Motion Office. It’s not about headphones like the Jabra Evolve 80, no, it’s a Bluetooth headset and a station: Jabra Motion Office. Only the Jabra Motion headset can be purchased without the station.

I admit I had some reservations when I started the Review. Bluetooth headsets and me are two.Finally … until today!

First impressions

The Motion Office is more than just a headset, it also has a connectivity stand that acts as a charger, a small touch screen, a case for the headset, cables and a Bluetooth adapter.

Installation

To start, we connect and then plug the earphone into the base. The touch screen informs us that the charging time of the headset is twenty minutes. And while we are waiting, why not take a look at the settings?

The touch screen then gives you the instructions to follow. First it asks you if you want to connect this earphone to your phone. That's what I did, by connecting a supplied cable to our landline phone.

After which I was asked if I wanted to connect to a computer. Sure why not ? I plugged it into a USB port on my laptop. The touchscreen then suggested that I download the Jabra PC Suite software to add other features, which I did.

PC Suite contains “Integration modules”Which allow to control the calls coming from software to make telephony by Internet. The list is quite complete: Skype, Cisco, NEC, Lync, ShoreTel and a few others. I haven't installed the ones I don't plan to use.

Once the PC Suite is installed, the touch screen asks me “Connect to a mobile phone?”, To which I have answered no, for the moment. I didn't have any use for it, and I wanted to know if this option would come back to me afterwards.

Next step: ppersonal references. Screen brightness, screen timeout, ringtones, volume control. The screen then gently returns us to the Headset Quick Start Guide.

Make calls

The headset, once charged, haseight hours of battery life. Enough for a day's work.I tested the Jabra Motion Office by making a few calls from skype and from a desk phone.

The calls were quality, like the Jabra Evolve 80 that I had tried before (which is impressive in itself), since it had two headphones unlike the Motion Office which only has one.

The conversations are so lively that when I called a colleague working in the same workspace as me, the headset could pick up his voice over the phone and relay it to me! (I was treated to a nice echo effect in the ear. Moving away a bit solved the problem)

The touch screen

We have some touch screens on our office phones for some time now. The Motion Office touch screen is smaller and has a downside : it’s impossible to call through him. However, this is not essential since it is possible to call via skype or from your phone.

The touch screen also allows us to quickly switch devices. You remember, I didn't want to connect Motion Office to my cellphone at the beginning, when I smart health connected it (by clicking on the “Call option” button at the top right), I could switch from my cellphone , to my desk phone or my computer, just by pressing a key. They are all represented by icons.

In other words, i can choose from where i take my calls. To transfer my received calls to my mobile phone, I take the headset. I want them to ring simultaneously? All devices will forward calls to the headset.

Voice commands

Using voice commands with a headset… it's about time! To find out which voice commands are available, press the Microphone on / off button when you have no calls in progress. When you hear “Formulate an order”, say “What can I say?”.

The listener will give you a list of voice commands. Here are the ones given to me:1) Connect new devices2) Battery3) Cancel

Speak loudly, the instructions given must be clear. I was sometimes looked at strangely when I was walking around shouting "What can I say? What can I say ??"

Bluetooth adapter

The Motion Office earpiece also works without the base. All you need to do is use the Bluetooth adapter or synchronize it directly via bluetooth to your mobile phone.

Conclusion

I have tried several Bluetooth headphones in the past. None lasted long. Either they were too light and kept falling out of my ear, or the quality of the calls was not there.

On these two points, the Jabra Motion Office headset is much better. It took me a second to put it in my ear, and never fell from it!
