Ikea partners with Asus to create comfortable gaming furniture!
Kit furniture giant Ikea and Republic of Gamers, Asus’ gaming division, have signed a partnership. The goal: to create furniture specially designed for the comfort of players. A new range will be created in the Ikea catalog, where around thirty products will be brought together. The commercial launch is expected in 2021.
Ikea, one of the world leaders in furniture and decoration, understands that our housing becomes digital and interactive. The Swedish firm is therefore multiplying initiatives to meet the needs of its customers who light their lamps with their tablet, no longer want a cable to charge their smartphone and ask a smart health connected speaker to play their favorite music.

After working in augmented reality, health home automation and wireless charging, Ikea is embarking on a new challenge: meeting the needs of players. The brand has therefore partnered with one of the experts in the field, Asus. And more precisely with the division ROG (Republic of Gamers) to create furniture and decorative items for gamers. Around thirty objects will therefore be integrated into a new category of the Ikea catalog.
Take gaming comfort to another level
No product has obviously been shown, since everything remains to be built. The two brands organized round tables with professional players to determine the products that would improve the practice of gaming. We are obviously thinking of a desk, chair or TV cabinet. It remains to be seen what more Ikea could offer compared to what already exists on the market. The two brands claim to be able to improve the level of comfort and immersion of gaming. Recall that Ikea had already signed a partnership a year and a half ago to create gaming products.
In its press release, the Swedish brand explains that the products will be designed in its R&D center in Shanghai. They will be made in China, of course. And marketing will start in this country. The estimated date is February 2021. Ikea confirms that other markets where the brand is present will also be affected. But not before the month October 2021. Either in a year. By then, Ikea may have had the time to closely study the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 to create furniture spacious enough to store them … Mission impossible?
