IFA: Motorola Moto 360 (2015) & Moto 360 Sport

Motorola Mobility announced new smartwatches at the IFA in Berlin. In addition to the second generation Moto 360, the Moto 360 Sport is now also available for friends of physical exercise.

Motorola's new Moto 360 wants to show off its personalization options. Compared to its predecessor, there are two sizes: a 42-millimeter model with a 360 × 325 pixel, 1.37-inch display and a 46-millimeter model with 360 × 330 pixels, a 1.56-inch screen. The new Moto 360 can be put together in Moto Maker according to your own preferences. Different colors, materials and bracelets will be available.

On the technical side, not much has changed compared to the predecessor: The smartwatch is powered by a Snapdragon 400 chip from Qualcomm – the RAM is 512 MB, the internal memory is 4 GB. The sensors include an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, a gyroscope and a vibration motor. Motorola's second-generation Moto 360 also comes with WiFi support.

Motorola has so far not published any detailed technical information on the new Moto 360 Sport fitness watch. It is not unlikely that the Snapdragon 400 including 512 MB RAM and 4 GB are installed here. To monitoring speed, distance and pace, the Moto 360 Sport user can leave their cell phone at health home – the wearable has a GPS module installed.

Motorola's AnyLight technology is used for the display. According to the company, the hybrid screen automatically adjusts to the intensity of the ambient light. When working out outdoors, natural light should be reflected to improve readability – especially in bright sunlight.

From September 15, the Moto 360 (2015) can be pre-ordered in Germany, from the end of September the gadget should then be delivered. At least 299 euros will be charged for the smartwatch.
