Huami's transparent and self-disinfecting mask

While we may have to live with the covid for a while, the Chinese firm Huami is designing Aeri, the ultimate consumer mask, under its Amazfit brand.

Since the start of the crisis, many tech companies have started to develop masks, from Xiaomi with its Smart Mask to Apple and its face shield. This new proposal, coming from the Xiaomi subsidiary, takes the best of the two previous offers: transparency and advanced functions.

How the Amazfit Aeri mask self-disinfects

In an interview with the American site TechCrunh, the Chinese company confirms that it is developing a transparent plastic facial mask. It will ship UV lamps who can disinfect their filters in 10 minutes once smart health connected to a power source via a USB port.

However, the user should always clean the exterior, the lamps being present only on the interior face of the object.

Like any reusable mask, the filters of the Amazfit Aeri will need to be replaced periodically. According to Huami, these meet the N95 standards : 95% of the particles in the air retained, ie 1% more than the FFP2 standard. They can be used up to 1.5 months before changing them.

A modular and transparent design

Designed with modularity in mind, the device can be accessorized, for example, with a fan to facilitate breathing. In addition, its transparent shell could also prove interesting in more ways than one.

First, it will benefit from facial recognition systems, such as the FaceID of iPhones. But the most important thing is thatwe can finally see the face of his interlocutor. It may be a small luxury for many of us, but for a hearing impaired person or a baby, seeing someone's expressions is vital.
