Healthier through everyday life with these apps and tools

[ad_1]

Healthyit is becoming more and more “digital”

That the world is in the midst of digitization is not new information. But for a long time, this did not take place in the healthcare sector. However, this is currently beginning to change and the experts seem to be aware that many health issues will also take place digitally to a large extent one day.

At some point, it will most likely be normal to talk to the family doctor via video chat instead of in person. Health data, which are automatically read by wearables, can be recorded directly in the patient file and the insurance companies offer premiums for a particularly healthy lifestyle.

Something like that could look like reality in a few years. A development that is not without controversy, after all it also means conflicts with data protection or risks such as misdiagnosis due to the lack of a personal investigation. These are just two of many examples of the arguments the critics use.

Despite all this criticism, the progressive digitalization seems to be unstoppable even in the healthcare system. There are already many apps and applications that help you to live (even) healthier in everyday life. As controversial as this development may be, it also brings advantages. It is therefore worth taking a look at the question of which tools and gadgets are already available, to what extent they make life “healthier” and whether they really make sense.

The columns of healthy everyday life

Of course, the use of appropriate apps or other tools is not enough to live a healthy life. That would be too easy. So you can only support and optimize success if a healthy lifestyle is cultivated anyway.

What is needed instead is the will and the necessary motivation. In addition, living healthy also means a certain amount of know-how, especially in the areas of nutrition and exercise. Because they are the two most important pillars for a healthy life and you can do a lot of things right, but also a lot of things wrong.

This is exactly where apps and gadgets can be used to provide valuable information, track success and so on. In addition to a healthy diet and sufficient exercise, there are also other factors that are important for health. This is, for example, a healthy psyche, i.e. feeling happy and relaxed, but also good medical care. The good news is that there are now digital helpers for all these "pillars" of a healthy life.

Apps and Co for the area of nutrition

Diet is sometimes the most important factor that decides a long and healthy life. An incorrect diet can not only cause overweight or underweight, but also cause serious complications, which in the worst case end in death. Most people are well aware of this.

However, they either do not know how to eat healthier or "properly", or they do not have the discipline or motivation to change their diet permanently. Modern apps or tools can help with both problems. These include, for example:

  • Calorie counter: When it comes to weight issues, calories are an important keyword. How many calories a person consumes and burns per day largely determines whether they gain, lose weight or keep weight. Calorie counting can be a first step in the right direction, but it is tedious and confusing by hand. Modern apps then help to track and add up the calories consumed throughout the day. However, that it is not only the quantity that is important, but also the quality of the food, they also evaluate a lot of other interesting data – such as how many macro or micronutrients were ingested and which ones. This overview makes it easier to optimize your own diet and thus live a healthier life and achieve your "weight goals".

  • Water tracker: The amount of water drunk is also crucial for health. So-called “water trackers” or similar apps that record the amount of drinking and keep reminding you of drinking can also be helpful.

  • rezepte apps: There are also numerous applications and applications that give recipe ideas for healthy meals. Many of them also provide in-depth information about a balanced diet or compile entire nutrition plans. The selection is large and therefore there should be a suitable choice for every user – depending on which individual goals are being pursued.

  • Fasting apps: Some of the nutrition apps are completely dedicated to a special form of nutrition. Fasting is a popular option because it is considered extremely healthy and can of course also help you lose weight effectively. These are apps that support classic fasting, but also more and more applications are dedicated to the so-called interval fasting. Fasting is only occasional, often in connection with breakfast skipping. However, whether this makes sense largely depends on what is eaten and what goals are being pursued, for example, athletes need a different diet than people who want to lose weight. It therefore makes sense to deal intensively with the topic and develop an individual nutrition plan. This also applies to interval fasting or fasting in general. Then such apps can definitely be a support.

  • Vegan apps: Another example of apps that help with “special nutrition” are applications for vegans. Here too, it is controversial whether this diet is (in the long run) healthy and for whom it is suitable. If you want to change your diet, you should also inform yourself in more detail and create an individual nutrition plan – because for vegans this is all the more important so that all important nutrients can be absorbed in sufficient quantities. Vegans can find help with all of these things in special apps, as well as with other questions, for example when looking for nearby vegan restaurants or when testing cosmetics to ensure they are free of animal experiments.

This is only an excerpt, but it already makes clear how diverse the selection of apps around the topic of nutrition is today. Thus, there is one or the other solution for everyone to make the diet in everyday life (even) healthier.

However, in many cases it makes sense to find out about the basics of proper nutrition and different diets beforehand and to develop a plan that fits your own goals and lifestyle. Because not every app that advertises a healthier diet can automatically guarantee this. In addition to veganism, interval fasting and breakfast skipping, other current nutritional trends are not recommended for everyone, for example the low-carb diet. A healthier diet is not possible without modern research, even with modern apps. But if you have found an individual nutritional concept, you can achieve faster and better results with the applications and make healthy eating easier in everyday life.

Gadgets for Movementand training in everyday life

The same applies to sport. Getting enough exercise is just as important for health as a balanced diet. Walking 10,000 steps a day, as many people try with the help of fitness trackers, is not necessarily enough. Instead, a distinction is made between moderate exercise and actual sport, i.e. intensive training. This is in turn possible for the muscles, i.e. in the form of strength training, or for endurance.

So movement is not the same as movement. Instead, there are specific guidelines from the WHO and other experts, how much exercise a person needs at least. And too much training can also be harmful, but this is usually only the case with extreme athletes who do competitive sports for several hours every day.

So the fact is: everyone should integrate as much exercise as possible into their everyday life. Taking at least 10,000 steps a day is a good goal, but far from enough. Instead, you need a balanced mix between moderate exercise and intensive training, as well as between endurance and strength sports. This is the only way to benefit health in the long term and in a variety of ways. Just like with nutrition, it is important not to blindly rely on gadgets or tools, but to inform yourself and to create a personal “exercise plan” based on your own research or with the help of professionals such as a fitness trainer. Only then can it make sense to use these or other apps and applications as additional help:

  • Fitness tracker: The fitness trackers already mentioned are enjoying increasing popularity, whether as an app or as a wearable. They record a lot of different data and make it available as interesting evaluations. They can therefore provide a good basis for analyzing your own habits and then optimizing them

  • Fitness apps: In addition to the pure trackers, i.e. those apps that only record and evaluate data, there are also more and more fitness apps. They are, so to speak, a digital gym for health home or outdoor sports. They include, for example, training videos, training programs or "challenges", which can also motivate those who don't like sports better. Almost all possibilities are represented in the sports, from yoga to hiking and strength training to jogging or HIT training. Especially for beginners, such apps can help you find a suitable workout and perform it correctly without the need for a personal trainer or paying for a gym.

  • Office apps: Sitting in the job for a long time, as is now part of everyday life in the office for most people, is one of the greatest dangers to health. That is why there are also special apps that bring more movement into everyday work. For example, they provide small exercises in between to relieve back tension or strengthen the muscles. If desired, they can also serve as a reminder to interrupt sitting at regular intervals and change position or simply get a coffee and take a few steps.

Apps can also be a good starting point when it comes to bringing more movement into everyday life. However, they can only give the impetus or impart know-how. The implementation is then up to everyone. But if that doesn't work with the motivation, there is also digital support.

Vastnessre tools for the psyche, motivation and co

Because there are now numerous applications for the psyche or memory. For example, you can increase motivation, help with self-discipline training, and also promote mental health. Because this is also an important part of everyday health care or promotion.

Eating healthy and exercising enough is the best prerequisite for a healthy life, but many diseases are also directly related to the head. This applies not only to mental illnesses such as depression or anxiety disorders, but also to many illnesses that are considered to be "physical", corresponding relationships have now been identified – for example with cancer. In order to maintain and promote health holistically, the following gadgets can be helpful on a psychological level:

  • Meditation apps: There are many apps that deal with meditation or similar strategies for reducing stress in everyday life. Finally, stress can cause or exacerbate many illnesses, such as migraines, gastrointestinal complaints, or a burnout syndrome. Appropriate apps provide relaxation techniques, teach stoicism or serve as a diary for mood tracking. The possibilities are many …

  • Psychology apps: Anyone who already suffers from psychological problems can even find a kind of digital psychotherapy for their pockets. Of course, such apps cannot replace medical treatment, but they can be supportive or encourage those affected to get help. After all, mental illnesses are still a taboo subject, which is often kept secret from family and friends and which means that many people do not get help – or only very late. Depending on the problem, different applications are possible. Some of them provide direct contact with a doctor, others are more of a “gimmick” to work on a more positive outlook on life.

  • Motivation apps: When it comes to health, motivation is essential. Because maintaining a healthy diet or exercising regularly is a major challenge for many people. At the latest when they have a bad day, self-discipline leaves much to be desired and all good intentions are forgotten. A motivational app therefore helps you to stick to your goals even in difficult times and thus actually achieve them – for the sake of health and your own self-confidence.

With regard to the psyche, the selection of tools is correspondingly large these days. They help to lead a healthier life or to make direct contact with specialists. In addition, they can indirectly promote a healthy lifestyle, for example by increasing motivation.

And with many of these applications, it is simply fun to use because they playfully help you relax, motivate you, "brain jog" or take other health measures for your head.

"Digital healthemergency care ”- does it already exist?

As mentioned, healthcare will also become increasingly digital in the future. The psychology apps, some of which enable or at least mediate direct contact with specialists and psychotherapists, are an excellent example of this. Such tools are also conceivable in contact with the family doctor or health insurance.

So the question remains open whether such a form of "digital health care" already exists? In fact, there are already some health apps that enable direct data exchange with a doctor. In the meantime, they can even be prescribed by the doctor, for example as an "app on prescription". Such health apps that are subject to health insurance must of course meet certain requirements, i.e. to demonstrate a clear medical purpose, for example to recognize, prevent, treat or monitoring an illness, injury or disability.

Telemedicine is also enjoying increasing popularity, especially in rural areas where there are only a few (specialist) doctors. The “Corona App” is also making headlines and is currently being planned, developed or already used in many countries. It also shows how apps and gadgets could change healthcare in the future.

Nevertheless, "digital health care" is still in its infancy and has so far been little used. However, this will most likely change in the near future and it makes sense to discuss the topic of "e-health" with the doctor.

 Fazit

The potential of digital technologies in the healthcare sector is huge and has so far hardly been exploited, which means little competition on the market. It is therefore likely that there will be rapid progress in e-health in the coming years. The situation is different for apps, trackers and the like. There are already many providers and a large selection on the market, so that everyone can find one or the other digital helper to live (even) healthier in everyday life. But here, too, the offers will of course continue to develop and optimize. You cannot improve your health on your own, but at least you can already be a valuable support. Ascending trend!
