Hands-on: Pebble Time Steel with 10-day battery life

Just a few days ago, Pebble Technology presented its third smartwatch, the Pebble Time. Today, the California startup at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2015 Pebble Time Steel shown – a nobler variant with 10 days of battery life.

The Pebble Time Steel has a colorful e-paper display with 64 different colors. It works with iPhone and Android OS smartphones and synchronizes notifications, emails and more. The main difference to Pebble Time is the slightly larger battery, which allows longer use. Ideally, as mentioned at the beginning, it is 10 days. But the clock has also got a little thicker. Visually, it can have other materials such as stainless steel and Corning Gorilla Glass.

Pebble's newest smartwatch comes in three different colors: Gunmetal Black, Gold and Silver. Similar to the Pebble Time, the higher quality version also has a data connection for developers. With the Smartstraps function also presented today, third-party manufacturers can build small modules for the two new Pebbe watches: for example, NFC for mobile payments, GPS or sports equipment. Pebble itself will soon introduce its own modules. Interested parties can already download the SDK and start development.

The Pebble Time Steel will be delivered from July 2015. The Kickstarter price is $ 250 and includes a smartwatch, a leather bracelet, and a metal bracelet. The regular trading price will be $ 299.
