Google smartwatches are coming ... but not this year!

Google smartwatches are coming … but not this year! The American high-tech giant unveiled a wide variety of products during its last keynote last October; including the two Pixel smartphones I told you about.

But no Google smartwatches in sight. The company told us about Google health home, Google Wifi, the new Ultra Chromecast dongle but not its future wearables. Yet Google is working on it.

Google smartwatches

If Google unveiled Android Wear 2.0 at this year's Google I / O, it looks like the final version of the Android Wear OS will launch next year. According to Android Police, the first site to mention Google's Angelfish and Swordfish watches, several other companies will not be revealing their new Android Wear products this year. It's unclear if Google is delaying Android Wear 2.0 because its hardware isn't ready or vice versa.

The names mentioned, Angelfish and Swordfish, will not be the trade names of Google smartwatches; we would have suspected … However, we do not know either if they will carry the brand of the Pixel range. This alternative is far from impossible. Anyway, the Angelfish model will be the most luxury model and will offer an LTE connection and will have a GPS. It will not need to work with a smartphone. The Swordfish watch will be the smallest model and will not have LTE or GPS. Logically, it should be cheaper than the Angelfish model.

This new delay is not good for Google. For its part, Apple is already in its second generation of smart health connected watches. The first updated model and the second are both currently on sale in stores. Google shouldn't be late!
