Google simplifies control of lamps, vacuums, locks and shutters

Google is updating the interface for Nest Hub and third-party branded screens under Google Assistant. The new interface simplifies the control of smart health connected objects such as vacuum cleaners, locks and shutters. And add a status for smart health connected bulbs.

Google Nest Hubs, Nest Hub Max, and other third-party branded smart displays are getting new update of their interface. The purpose of this is to simplify the control of your smart health connected objects. smart health connected screens are a variation of Google health home speakers. They also allow voice commands to benefit from a graphical interface, and to display content such as photos and YouTube videos.

The first big improvement is the presence of a new status for smart health connected lamps on the health home page. The icon will be yellow when the lamp is on and gray when it is off. However, only Philips Hue and Lifx lamps support this functionality. It also becomes possible to unlock locks directly from the health home screen. New controls are also appearing for products like vacuum cleaners, fans and roller shutters.

For example in the case of a fan, it becomes possible to adjust the power of the air flow from the smart health connected screen. The shutters are also more practical to close and open with the new interface. Finally, the update brings the support for Nvidia Shield. If you have one, you can turn it off, turn it on, adjust the volume and play directly from your smart health connected screen, whereas until now, it was only possible to cast content from your Google Assistant smart health connected devices.
