Full Review of the XXL USB key smart health innovation
At CES 2017 earlier this year Kingston Digital unveiled two new storage keys. This is the Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate GT available in 1TB or 2TB version. Are these really worth the advertised price around 1700 €?

Unboxing of the Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate GT
The unboxing was rather simple, despite a plastic film giving a rather coarse appearance to the metal box. Once the metal box is open, all of the assembled elements are carefully placed within a foam structure which notably prevents tossing. Every element, whether the protective bag, the USB cable or the storage medium are all perfectly protected.
The metal box is strong enough to protect the equipment from daily commutes. However, it will not withstand a more substantial fall. The foam structure makes it possible to block each element within its support in order to protect them as much as possible.

When it comes to removing the elements from their location, the foam structure is designed to be able to remove everything easily. However, be careful of the wear and tear that will result from frequent use which may seriously damage the foam..
Design and Ergonomics of the Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate GT
The USB key has a marginal design. It has two distinct positions: one closed, to support the USB extension cable, and another open to protect the said USB device.. The metallic gray color makes everything very austere.
The size of the device will pose a problem. It is ridiculously huge and hardly adaptable for any computer. On a desktop PC the key takes up a lot of space, while for a laptop it breaks the balance. As far as the USB cable is concerned, its 16.7 cm size is not really detrimental. On the other hand its blue color swears a lot with the metallic gray of the device.

Finally, the element protection bag comes in a very simplified form. Even if the shape is not aesthetic, it is at least effective in protecting the key and its cable from everyday hassles. The quality of the fabric seems average but is doubled to give a quilted effect, despite its black color which shows that the colorful aesthetic of the package is not its strong point.
Using the Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate GT
Like any USB medium, its use is very simple and intuitive. Just tighten both sides of the key to take out the USB tip, then insert it into the support provided in your computer to use it. Once the key is inserted, a blue light will come on to indicate that the device is ready to use.
It is therefore necessary to talk about the performance of the key. On paper, it is presented to us as the one with the largest storage capacity with 2TB. This fact is quickly verified and proves to be very practical when it comes to wanting to move important data for business trips..

When transferring large files, the Kingston DataTraverler proves its value with a speed of 37MB per second. Thus, a heavy AVI file of 1GB is transferred in less than a minute. This makes the key very practical for people with a dematerialized media library.
In addition, the key does not heat up much even after intensive use of more than an hour. When it comes to finding a place among the USB ports on your PC, simply remove the key, install the USB cable through the adapter and connect the USB side to be able to use it. The USB cable can compensate for the huge space that the key takes.
On the other hand, it is regrettable that the key does not have any integrated software. In addition, the key uses the USB 3.1 GEN1 interface, it is very classic especially when you know that the GEN 2 interface is available and more efficient.
The Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate GT faces competition

It is quite complicated to compare the Kingston DataTraveler with the other USB sticks on the market. The closest key to the market is Corsair Voyager GS 512 GB. Accessible for an average price around 270 € with a similar level of performance except for the storage capacity. Indeed, its 512 GB is no match for the 2TB of the Kingston Data Traveler.

Regarding external hard drives, the observation is identical: the comparison is complicated as the model presented is difficult to locate. However, if it were to be compared to the same level of storage, it would be at Seagate Backup Plus Slim. Both offer the same storage capacity, except that the external hard drive includes backup software and does not clutter up on a PC.

SPACE
To finish this Review, what about the Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate GT? Too big to be a standard USB stick and too small to be accepted as a real external hard drive, the Kingston DataTraveler remains a marginal smart health smart health connected object in the market. Its price of € 1,737 indicates that we are dealing with a high-end product, however the offer offered is still too fair to be satisfactory. The object is a real technical feat, but we feel that there is still work to be done to make it happen..
Overview
Design and Ergonomics : The Datatraveler and its accessories have austere colors and is especially far too bulky for a USB key despite the cable.Application : Very simple for an object having such a storage power.Features : The memory of 2TB is the big highlight of the key but no backup software in addition.use : Very easy, no software to install or blockages during file transfer.Quality / Price ratio : € 1,737, this is the amount you will have to pay to acquire this object. If this is a major technological feat, the lack of software and the bulk caused by the object painfully highlight the price of the Datatraveler.
