Fitbit alternatives – the most important points in brief
Our brief overview of the most important equipment features and features reveals what properties all fitness trackers have and what users have to pay extra for.
Design: Many trackers have different housing colors, and some also offer the option of purchasing different wristbands and replacing them as required.
Functions: Heart rate tracking and sleep analysis are standard features of most fitness trackers.Call acceptance directly on the bracelet or voice control, on the other hand, characterize high-quality models.
Apps: Inexpensive fitness trackers can usually only be operated with the app from their manufacturer. High quality also with popular apps from other brands.
Price: Fitness trackers are sometimes available for as little as 10 euros, but are then often very poorly made. Even occasional users should therefore invest at least 20 to 30 euros.
The best Fitbit alternatives – reviews and tests in comparison
Good fitness trackers don’t have to be expensive, as thousands of positive customer reviews show. The following three models are our favorites among the Fitbit alternatives.
Editor’s recommendation: Mi Band 5 as the best Fitbit alternative
We have already rated hundreds of fitness trackers in the last few years and the Mi Bands have always stood out positively. This is not only due to their exceptionally long battery life of several weeks, but also to their good workmanship.
The Mi Band 5 was also able to convince us in the practical Review with its large, easy-to-read display, the low weight and the many sport modes. In addition, the Mi Band 5 is the only model in our comparison that is waterproof enough to use it permanently while swimming and diving. Unfortunately, compared to the previous model, the Mi Band 4, its battery life is significantly shorter at two weeks instead of around three.
Wed Volume 5 Review result of the editorsAll-rounder who has been able to prevail against all fitness trackers we have tested so far. However, you shouldn’t expect an integrated GPS sensor in the inexpensive Mi Band 5. Because, like most of the cheap Fitbit alternatives, it uses the GPS mode of the smartphone.
The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 impresses with improved functions, a larger display and 11 sport modes.
More Review and experience reports on the Mi Band 5Amazon customers rated the Mi Band with 4.5 out of 5 stars (as of 09/2020) and so did the testers at chinahandys.net made a clear purchase recommendation for it (status: 08/2020).
The team at Computer picture awarded the Mi Band the grade satisfactory (3.1), because the testers found the font too small, the processing too cheap and the data protection questionable (status: 08/2020). The experts at Stiftung Warentest have not yet tested the Mi Band 5. (As of: 09/2020)
Fitbit alternative with more sport modes: YAMAY SW336
If you want to track even more sporting activities, the YAMAY fitness bracelet SW336 is the right choice. Before buying, however, interested parties should consider that only three sport modes are pre-installed on the tracker. The eleven other can only be used via the manufacturer app.
The sports functions of this model are supplemented by a do not disturb option and a seat alarm that reminds the user to take action and to take a few steps. It is also possible to be informed about incoming calls via the YAMAY SW336.
YAMAY SW336 Editor’s reviewFitbit alternative with a good price-performance ratio and many sports features. According to customer reviews, however, the battery performance drops to a range of one to two days after constant use, which means that this tracker only corresponds to the standard value.
Smart fitness bracelet with 14 training modes, blood pressure measurement, heart rate measurement and sleep tracking.
Further Review reports and experience reports for YAMAY SW336In the customer ratings on Amazon, this fitness tracker from YAMAY achieved an average of 4.7 out of 5 stars (as of 09/2020). We have no further evaluations. (As of: 09/2020)
Bargain tip: Willful step counter without app
The Willful step counter, which is the cheapest Fitbit alternative in our comparison, gets by without any frills. It can withstand splashing water and brief immersion, but should not be used for diving.
The Willful pedometer records activities such as steps, calories burned and exercise time. The sleep monitoring can also be used to monitoring how long you’ve slept – provided the mode was activated when you went to bed. An automatic detection is therefore just as little as a precise analysis of the sleep quality.
Willful pedometer review by the editorExtremely inexpensive basic model without app connection, which is also suitable for seniors or children thanks to its easy handling. However, only basic functions can be used.
Simple fitness tracker for tracking steps and calories burned. Long battery life. Works without an app or mobile phone.
More Review and experience reports on the Willful step counterThe Willful bracelet received 4.7 out of 5 stars from users on Amazon (as of 09/2020). We currently have no further tests on this. (As of: 09/2020)

Regardless of whether it is a smart health home lamp or a wearable: every product we evaluate is carefully examined and assessed according to the 360 degree principle. In other words, for an as objective assessment as possible, in addition to our own experience, we also include fitness tracker tests from other specialist editors and customer reviews. In this way we avoid the tunnel vision of a single user and can give a particularly complex evaluation. In addition, we always take into account the latest technical developments and trends for fitness trackers.
Buying advice Fitbit alternatives – the most important criteria when buying
Our overview of the most important functions reveals what you should look for when choosing an inexpensive Fitbit alternative.
GPS: Cheap Fitbit alternatives, like the ones presented here, use the phone’s GPS mode. If you do sports with it, you should always have your smartphone with you. If you want a model with an integrated GPS sensor, you usually have to invest at least 100 euros.
Compatibilities: It is almost always possible to use a manufacturer app to evaluate tracking results. Some fitness trackers can also be networked with the Alexa app or other popular applications.
Voice control: This usually requires a connection to a smartphone with the Alexa or Google Assistant app, as voice assistants have so far only been integrated in a few fitness trackers.
Payment function: So far none of the cheap smartwatches known to us for less than 50 euros and also not available in inexpensive fitness trackers, but reserved for high-quality models like Fitbit Inspire 2.
