In the field of health home automation and smart health connected objects, the battery is a widely used consumable. A breakthrough innovation that meets new energy needs

The result of 10 years of R&D within the group, the new Duracell OPTIMUM battery was designed as anew generation of AA / AAA batteries. Depending on the needs of each device, the OPTIMUM battery can provide the device with up to 200% more longevity or more power.

A battery consists of a cathode, an anode and a separator allowing the good circulation of electrons. Technically, electrons travel from the anode to the cathode, passing through the device, creating an electric current.

DURACELL’s Research & Development department has redesigned cathode technology and addeda new active ingredient to produce a much more energetic alkaline battery.

The density of the new OPTIMUM battery is thus much higher, which allows to benefit according to the needs of each device of more longevity or more power.

Benefiting from 18 international patents, this new battery allows the world energy specialist to open a new era.

New eco-responsible packaging to store batteries and facilitate their recycling

In France, 49% of batteries are recycled each year and 15% end up directly in the trash orare thrown into the wild. The remaining 36% is simply in use at health home.

The importance of recycling batteries is well established. But between new batteries and used batteries, consumers get lost a bit. How to recognize them in the house once they are out of their packaging?

With the new packaging, DURACELL takes another step forward in its CSR commitment: all batteries are delivered in eco-responsible packaging 0% plastic and 100% recyclable.

The new packaging for Duracell OPTIMUM batteries, which takes the form of a book that opens and closes, is also a smart storage tool. Once used, the user puts their used batteries back in the packaging, in the reverse order of the new batteries.

Once it is full of used batteries, the consumer just has to bring it to one of the 32,000 collection points in France, where the batteries can then be recycled and live a second life!

The recycling of batteries makes it possible to extract and recover nearly 80% of the materials that compose them and which will be used to manufacture new objects: cutlery, tools, roofs, security pads,manhole covers etc.

Availability of Duracell Optimum batteries

These new Duracell Optimum batteries are available now in AA and AAA sizes, priced at € 6.89 per 4-pack (6 and 8-cell packs are also available). A set of batteries is already being tested at health home to be able to check this new autonomy in health home automation
