The French company Invoxia understood this issue well, and decided to launch Triby, the speaker for the kitchen. Why ? Because everyone spends time listening to music in this place. Triby's Unboxing

The Triby packaging is a square about 20 cm wide. Just drag the first part of this package to access the box that actually contains the object. So we find ourselves face to face with a box with a recycled paper look, a very simple but rather cute design.Once the latter is open, the box consists of Triby, of its mini USB charger, as well as a (very) small notice.

Design and ergonomics

We tested the Triby with a rubber shell gray in color. A color, it must be admitted, quite sad, but the latter is also available in red, green and blue. This square is approximately 15 cm side and 3 cm deep, which makes Triby a rather compact speaker.

His look is very retro with rounded sides and a screen unfortunately monochrome, which is a bit disappointing for a modern speaker. It has a small handle on the top, which makes it easy to carry. It fits very well in the hand, and its weight is very reasonable.

Very practical, it contains two magnetic strips which allow it to be attached to any metal support, such as your refrigerator for example.

The application is simply called "Triby“. She is shipping but the negative and disappointing point is thatit is only available on the AppStore.

Very intuitive, it’s very easy to set up the app with your Triby. You can also pair several Triby, and therefore several members to your application.

General use

Creating a Triby account is very simple. After starting your device, the pairing is very intuitive and you just have to pair with the right Triby. Coupling to wifi is also easy, but during this phase, the device emits quite strange vibrations with a rather unpleasant noise oddly reminiscent of a current noise.

Configuration

You can then start to configure your Triby according to your preferences.

First of all, the configuration of the radios is simple and fast, you can choose two favorite radios, and include others in a list.

You can, in the same way, configure your Triby by registering phone numbers. In the same way as for radios, you can choose two favorite numbers from the "phone" buttons 1 and 2, as well as add others to the list on the third button.

So making calls is very easy with Triby. A person can contact Triby with his iPhone, and vice versa. The device’s microphone is effective, and conversations are going pretty well.

It is also possible tosend messages to Triby from the iOS mobile app. Once the message is received on the device, a buzzer sounds and the tab on the side comes out to warn that a message has been received. Just enter the small yellow flag to indicate that the Triby user received the message. This time, Triby cannot respond by sending messages, but can only send emoticons from the button on the left side, under the yellow tab.

Triby's battery charges in 2 to 4 hours, and is scheduled to last 2 to 3 weeks.

Triby can be paired with the app Spotify and thus allow you toaccess all playlists, music, or favorite artists on the account. The big downside for this point is that you can only use this option if you have a Spotify Premium account … which is a shame.

On its health home screen, Triby displays time analogically, the temperature, as well as the humidity level present in the air.

Triby against the competition

It seems obvious that Invoxia Triby does not have the best sound quality on the speaker market. In addition, no jack is provided to connect it to a speaker, but this is possible by Bluetooth or Wifi. However, it has the advantage of offering innovative features, cleverly thought out so that they can be used by all, all ages, and above all, while COOKING. Thus, Triby is a speaker specially designed for the kitchen, and its use is very fun and intuitive.

Conclusion

Triby is a great innovation, and one useful smart health smart health connected object, and especially suitable for the whole family.

The downside to making and receiving calls is that you need an iPhone or iPad to use the Triby app. In addition, it is not available on Mac, which could have been very convenient. It is also a little disappointing that messages other than emoticons cannot be sent from the Triby. In addition, the black and white screen offers a little frustration, because even if it fits very well with its retro look, the monochrome screens have all the same almost disappeared from our modern and smart health connected societies … Its last negative point, and not of the least, is that the Spotify option can only be used with Spotify Premium. Nor can you imagine using this option with another music streaming platform such as Deezer. Disappointing, because you will still have to pay a monthly subscription to take advantage of this possibility.

From a positive point of view, Triby is very aesthetic, practical and fun. Its configuration and use are very simple and intuitive, and several iPhones or iPads can connect to a Triby. Several Triby can also be paired together. He is the first speaker dedicated to cooking and family to offer these possibilities, and it is very pleasant to use. The app works very well, as does the Triby. The autonomy of the device is very satisfactory and it remains very fun to use. As a final point, Invoxia has announced that the application will be launched on Android from the end of April this year.
