Unboxing of the Dyson 360 Eye

The packaging of the vacuum cleaner is fairly standard. It is a good quality cubic cardboard box. Unlike other brand products, such as the Pure Hot + Cold Link air purifier, the carton does not carry any product information. Instead, product photos on each side show the Dyson 360 Eye in all its stitchings.

Once the box is open, you can see the device, protected in a plastic film and stored in a protective foam. Under the vacuum cleaner, we discover a tray which will prove to be the charging support of the Dyson 360 Eye, as well as its charger. Finally, we can see the product manual at the very bottom. As with most Dyson products, this is a large, airy manual with lots of details, photos and illustrations.

The device is delivered in one piece, no accessories are provided. This suggests a simple installation. The Dyson 360 Eye is devoid of any socket, you quickly guess that the charger is used on the plastic platform. So it’s really a product that wants to be as independent and autonomous as possible.

Design and ergonomics of the Dyson 360 Eye

Again, nothing surprising. The 360 ​​Eye offers the same design as the overwhelming majority of automatic vacuums of this kind. It is relatively small, and round in shape. However, it is quite compact and seems more resistant than what you would normally see on the market.

It is when you return it that you realize the quality of this device. Where most products of this type only have two small casters that can easily lock and wear, the Dyson 360 Eye is equipped with two tracks which allow it to overcome obstacles like fine carpets, for example, and better adhere to the floor.

It's easy to pick up and carry, but remains, however, heavier than most of its competitors. This is explained by the weight of the technology it carries, which we will come back to later.

The accessories, on the other hand, are quite secondary. The white plastic plate is small and is intended to stay plugged in a corner in order to receive the vacuum cleaner once it runs out of battery. It is quite discreet and is quickly forgotten, especially if your walls are white.

Application of the Dyson 360 Eye

The vacuum cleaner application is the same as for other Dyson smart health connected products: Dyson Link. It has a very ergonomic design and an intuitive interface. It will simply ask you to create an account and then add the product you have purchased to it. This is very easily done by connecting the product to the WiFi in your accommodation.

Once you have smart health connected your smartphone to the product, you will be able to access its various functions, but it is good to know that you can use the Dyson 360 Eye without its application. We will come back to this later. The application, on the other hand, will allow you to permanently get rid of the household chore: you can, in fact, set up a cleaning schedule that will start the vacuum cleaner on the day and at the time of your choice.

The first time you press the power button, the machine will immediately begin vacuuming, and at the same time he will scan the room in which he is in order to draw up a plan and recognize the various obstacles. Subsequently, he will then use this plan to automatically clean up according to the schedule you impose on him.

Where the Dyson 360 Eye really stands out is thatit is able to directly reach its charging platform when its battery is low, without any intervention on your part. So, after turning it on for the first time and setting up the cleaning schedule, he will do the cleaning according to the schedule and will do it alone. If it's in charge of a single piece, you literally won't have to touch it.

Using the Dyson 360 Eye

As mentioned above, you can use the vacuum cleaner without the app. Once you have smart health connected the charging platform to the charger and placed the 360 ​​on it. It will automatically load and you only have to press the start button so that it automatically starts cleaning the room in which he is.

No need to adjust, his 360 ° camera allows him to establish a plan of the room and to clean methodically remembering where it went and where it needs to be cleaned. It also allows him to intelligently get around obstacles without coming up against them like the majority of other autonomous vacuum cleaners.

In terms of efficiency, Dyson quality is there. With its high performance motor and its motorized brush over the entire length, the Dyson 360 Eye does not leave dust lying around. In addition, its tracks allow it to overcome even the smallest obstacles, such as thin carpets, where others would go around them. Otherwise, it is thinner than the competition, which allows it to pass between close obstacles such as the legs of a chair.

It is, however, much larger than most standalone vacuums, it may go under your bed, but no chance he'll make his way under your couch.

The Dyson 360 Eye facing the competition

The Dyson 360 Eye is a high-end device. It is very expensive (999 €) but its 360 camera, its efficient technology, its useful application and its autonomy make this price more acceptable. Its main competitor is the Roomba 980. It is also smart health connected to an application that allows it to plan its cleaning schedules and to a camera that allows it to draw up a plan of your accommodation rather than bumping into your furniture.

It costs 100 euros less, but also offers less advanced technology. Apart from the smart health connected aspect, it does not take advantage of Dyson innovations in terms of suction quality. It is much closer to conventional vacuum cleaners with its rollers and its side brush supposed to bring the dust back to the vacuum cleaner, where the complete brush of the 360 ​​Eye ensures maximum suction.

When it comes to the app, the two are equal. But the Dyson 360 Eye is a better vacuum cleaner, which justifies its slightly higher cost.
