Awox Aromalight: Review, price and characteristics smart health innovation

Installation of the Awox Aromalight bulb

The opening of the package does not overly surprise:

> a big bulb with a minimalist notice

> a refill with a sponge within which we immediately understand the usefulness

> a bottle of essential oils which is provided to us as privileged testers

No need to leave St Cyr to understand that theEssential oil is put on the sponge and that everything fits into the only hole in it at the top of the bulb, So far so good.

A big surprise, however, bulb base appears large. Impossible to adapt its bulb to a bedside lamp, no more to the chandelier in the living room … the rest of your devoted editor's apartment has bar lights, it doesn't work either … a little panic! It took a lot of ingenuity, but when it finally finds an adaptable fixture, the voltage goes down, let's make room for the Review.

Nothing simpler than installing the bulb, it is similar to any other, just screw it on completely normally and turn on the power.

The awox AromaLight app

This is only available on the Smartphone. It is particularly easy to find, typing Awox in Google Play is enough.

Once the application is launched, we are asked to start the Bluetooth. This action performed, the bulb is detected by the application, nothing more to do, except read the usage tips.

Once launched, the application does not seem at first sight very complicated to understand, a system of tabs at the bottom offers different possibilities:

> White : It is possible here to vary the color and the intensity of the light so that it is extremely bright white, like a real bulb, to a pale yellow which reminds of night lights of old cars.

> Color : Nothing too complicated here too, it is possible to select a basic color provided directly at the bottom of the screen or to choose precisely the desired one from the multicolored circle. The roundabouts offer the possibility of choosing a cycle one press allows you to do it once, long press, hold it until you stop it by changing the color. No fear, this is all explained when you click on it.

> Diffuser : You can program what time it should start and / or stop. It can also be triggered instantly by changing the speed of the fan which propels the essential oils out of the sponge. From weak to rapid diffusion, the choice is vast.

> Alarm : Wake up to the lights and fall asleep watching your light bulb go down. You can program the timeignition and D'extinction and the duration that it will take. Between instant and one minute, the intensity can increase or decrease according to your desires.

> Disco: Ask your bulb to react to the playlist of your phone by varying its light intensity where range of colors.

> Music: All that's left is to choose your music from your phone’s playlist and dance in time with the light bulb.

Real utilities and little annoyances

You can use your Awox AromaLight as a classic light bulb, it illuminates divinely.

It is very easy and pleasant to be able choose the colors and intensity perfectly lighting throughout the evening.

Your devoted editor would tend to find the knee principle a little soft rotations of colors that she has not always identified correctly unlike the system she previously owned at her health home, which varied the lighting forcefully and confidently at a programmed rate.

The Streamer, this is the innovation of this light bulb and it is a half-tone assessment for your devoted editor. The ceilings are not low and since this bulb does not adapt to the bedside lamp, it could not find more efficiency in terms of diffusion than a diffuser plugged directly into the outlet. The smell is present but localized, However. So, of course, thanks to the bulb, it frees a socket, that's a good point.

However, the problem does not come from there … the fan is not not completely silent. Pushed to a third of its maximum speed, it is already audible, nothing very disturbing for the insensitive, for others, it is strongly advised not to push it at maximum speed. We are far from comparing this noise to that of an airplane turbine, we can hear you well, but in a bedroom at night, it was right for the patience of your devoted editor. It is therefore necessary to favor this option during the day, or outside noises will undoubtedly take precedence over this small fan.

The Disco / music function, apart from the fact that her name provokes a little dance in your devoted editor, gadget. And, like any gadget, it's cool! No, seriously, the general hysteria lasts the time of a song, afterwards, the spirits return to the conversations, but the effect is there and it amuses, what more could you ask for …

Our feeling

For a fifty euros, this bulb offers nice and interesting features.

What we like: Intuitive handling and many pleasant, entertaining and practical possibilities.

What we disliked: Difficult to find a fixture capable of accommodating such a large base, a fan not completely silent, a connection only in Bluetooth so a field of action to trigger it from 20 meters only…

Small clarification: on the advice of Awox itself, it appears that there is a simple way to adapt this bulb to all light fixtures: an adapter can be purchased for less than three euros in all DIY stores, it allows you to go from E27 to E14… Good news!
