Apple Watch: declining sales in the US, edition weak

No question, the Apple Watch got off to a spectacular start. In June, Slice Intelligence reported that Apple had already sold 2.79 million copies of its smartwatch – up to 200,000 a day in the United States alone. It is precisely this market research company that has now published new figures, according to which the enormous initial euphoria has now collapsed significantly: Accordingly, sales have recently fallen by 90 percent.
So reported MarketWatch relying on data from Slice Intelligencethat Apple currently sells fewer than 20,000 smartwatches per day in the United States – sometimes even fewer than 10,000. Two thirds of the watches sold are also said to be the inexpensive Watch Sport.
With the usual huge profit margins, Apple should still not gnaw at the hunger cloth so quickly. For example, 17 percent of watch buyers also order a second bracelet. Mostly it is the black sports bracelet for 59 euros – material and manufacturing costs: 2.05 dollars.
Apparently, the luxury segment does not really stand out either: According to market researchers, Apple is said to have sold less than 2,000 models of its Watch Edition in the United States. After there are more than a million households in the U.S. with assets in excess of $ 5 million (source), Apple’s luxury watch doesn’t seem particularly “cool” among the rich.
Unfortunately, there is no data on how the noble version performs in Europe as well as in the Arab and Asian regions. But who knows – maybe Apple will reveal more details together with its quarterly figures, which are expected for July 21.
In the following photo gallery you can scroll through the different watch models again.
