Android Wear gets interactive watch faces

Google has announced that it will soon roll out a major update for its wearable OS Android Wear. It brings interactive watch faces to the Google smartwatches.

Details of a major update for Google's wearable operating system were announced in mid-July. Now the company has announced that the features announced at the time will soon be on its smartwatches. These are interactive watch faces and a kind of clock-to-clock communication.

So far, clock faces on Google watches have been able to display additional information – such as the next appointment, the number of steps taken on the day or messages received. Now developers can customize their watch faces so that the user can interact with them. For example, shortcuts to the weather or the calendar can now be part of the clock face and simply called up by tapping on them.

Another example given by Google shows a watch face that, when tapped, shows the calorie consumption of the user, his steps taken and his distance. The Together dial offers a kind of clock-to-clock communication: The smartwatches of two users can be smart health connected to each other and thus share photos, emojis or current activities that are then displayed within the watch face. In the Play Store So far there are 21 interactive dials, the update for Google watches will be rolled out "for the next few weeks" for all Android wear devices.

Incidentally, there is a good offer for fans of Google smartwatches at Saturn and Media Markt: The Moto 360 from Motorola currently only costs 144 euros. That is around 30 euros less than the currently cheapest deal on price comparison sites.
