Price: € 129 | Amazfit (Huami group founded in 2013 supported by the giant Xiaomi-China)

Here is the most original of the current portable smart health connected devices with its futuristic look. However, it is reminiscent of activity tracking bracelets. But, it offers a much larger and fully touch screen than the latter.

Design and features Amazfit X

The 92 degree curved touch screen wristband has a metal and glass frame, and has no physical buttons. Equipped with 220 mAh battery it should have an autonomy of 7 days in normal use.

The Amazfit X has a 2.07 inch curved AMOLED display, with a completely buttonless design, which uses the generous touchscreen. It has a super bright 400 nit screen with a resolution of 206 x 640, and takes a 22mm strap.

By comparison, its screen is double that of the new Fitbit Charge 4 (€ 149) with its 1 inch screen, 60 x 100, and weighs 30 g.

Like the Charge 4, Amazfit announces a seven-day battery life for its hybrid smartwatch, powered by a battery 200 mAh curved lithium ion which maximizes the size in the design of the device. Impressive. The full recharge is done with the magnetic charger in two hours.

It also allows you to receive notifications from your smartphone (Android or iOS), such as calls, SMS or appointments. Finally, it allows you to control the main apps directly on your wrist like your music.

Amazfit X equipped with many sensors

It is also not stingy in terms of integrated equipment:

  • monitoring heartbeat, with an optical sensor

  • Sensor SpO2 for the follow-up ofblood oxygen.

  • GPS with GLONASS support for outdoor training tracking.

Thus, the Amazfit X has 9 pre-recorded profiles for tracking the main physical activities ranging from running and cycling to open water swimming and treadmill tracking, including walking or the elliptical trainer.

Health monitoring and stress detection

Health tracking throughout the day uses the PAI score, which Mio Global has licensed. A system that has already proven itself on the excellent Amazfit GTS (Apple Watch look to 124 €)

And Amazfit’s awesome sleep tracker does the trick, too, with sleep score analysis and sleep stage monitoring.

Stress tracking is also on the Amazfit X’s list of functions. It helps you stay relaxed. To do this, it monitors your heart rate throughout the day and gives you up-to-date information on your stress level: relaxed, normal, medium and high.

Sleep analysis

Your day started last night. The Amazfit X can help you get the most out of your day with a good night’s sleep. With its curved design, you will hardly notice the Amazfit X on your wrist, as it follows you through all 4 stages of sleep:

  • Light sleep (stages 1 and 2),

  • deep sleep

  • and REM sleep.

The app provides you with accurate and useful data to help you understand and improve your sleep patterns. The Amazfit X can even monitoring your nap so you can find the best time and the best duration to recharge at noon.

Amazfit X price and availability

The Amazfit X is now on sale on AliExpress’s Amazfit store for the price of € 129.

There is also the very offbeat Amazfit Néo and its very old school style around € 45. Others Amazfit smartwatches are also available on Amazon.com.

Obviously I am still skeptical about this type of crowdfunding platform, where, unfortunately, many never see the light of day or are delivered within unreasonable deadlines. However, Chinese brands have accustomed us to finalizing a large number of products, as the giant Xiaomi (of which Huami is a subsidiary) regularly does. It is also a way for brands to Review customers’ appetite for such an offbeat product.

The best current smart health connected bracelets

  1. The brand new Amazfit Band 5 at € 49.99, the most complete and powerful smart health connected bracelets (without subscription)

  2. Much cheaper, the Xiaomi mi band 5, which we find at 33 €, the best quality / price ratio in the smart health connected bracelet category.

  3. The Redmi Band with its minimum price at € 17 at Gearbest the specialty of Chinese import.

  4. New Fitbit Inspire 2 which improves a little the Inspire HR in lower price to € 78 (but takes all its power with the Fitbit Premium subscription).

  5. For smartphone owners Samsung, I recommend it Galaxy Fit at 69 € (and no subscription required).

  6. Perfect with a phone Huawei, the Band 3 Pro at 45 €.

  7. TheHonor Band 5 at 34 € which I find the most beautiful (totally personal opinion) and especially one of the few to offer an SpO2 sensor and an NFC chip for contactless payment (but its touch screen is not the easiest to navigate).

First review Amazfit X

It is clear that this is a very different product from what we are used to seeing in the range of smart health connected watches which often take on the look of traditional watches.

Admittedly its technical characteristics and its design make it a niche product, but its originality really has something to seduce those who appreciate to stand out with a quality product.
